I have a passionate interest in promoting well-being in the body, mind and spirit and believe it is important to live in a healthy and balanced way. Believing in the power of touch and the profound changes that massage therapy can set in motion in the physical and emotional bodies, I have been drawn to further my career as a Licensed Massage Therapist, so I learned CranioSacral Therapy.
While providing a safe and caring space, we will work together to create a treatment plan that integrates a combination of techniques and modalities to help facilitate and support your individual goals of improved health and well-being. I view every session as an opportunity to help you quiet the mind and put you in touch with your body. Each session is different & each client is different but together we will work towards achieving complete balance in your body, mind and spirit. Together, we will tap into that healing place that’s already within you. CranioSacral Therapy will leave you feeling both relaxed and energized.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle form of treatment that works with the brain, cerebrospinal fluid, the 22 cranial bones and the membranes inside of the cranium, the sacrum and spinal column that make up what is called, the craniosacral system. I will use gentle touch while providing long holds with each contact to the head, spine and pelvis to help optimize a movement pattern in this system called the cranial wave.
When the movement of the cranial wave is not flowing with ease, it inhibits the craniosacral system from functioning efficiently and as a result we can feel “out of sorts.” The bones in the head, spine and central nervous system are affected adversely and because the central nervous system oversees what the rest of our body does, it’s challenging to be and even feel at our best.
Receiving Craniosacral work can help bring you back into balance with your body and well-being, so you can live your life in a positive motion moving forward.
Few structures have as much influence over the body’s ability to function properly as the brain and spinal cord that make up the central nervous system. And, the central nervous system is heavily influenced by the craniosacral system – the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord.
Every day your body endures stresses and strains that it must work to compensate for. Unfortunately, these changes often cause body tissues to tighten and distort the craniosacral system. These distortions can then cause tension to form around the brain and spinal cord resulting in restrictions. This can create a barrier to the healthy performance of the central nervous system, and potentially every other system it interacts with.
Such restrictions can be detected and corrected using simple methods of touch. With a light touch, I will evaluate the craniosacral system by gently feeling various locations of the body to test for the ease of motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsing around the brain and spinal cord. Soft-touch techniques are then used to release restrictions in any tissues influencing the craniosacral system.
By balancing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhancing the body’s ability to self-correct, CranioSacral Therapy can help alleviate a wide variety of dysfunctions, from chronic pain and sports injuries to stroke and neurological impairment.
